fucking bullshit

GoDaddy is a piece of fucking bullshit, and I hate them. Here's why:

As you may or may not know, Butt2face.com is not a self-hosted web site. Being a student at Ball State University, I am entitled to 200 Megabytes of space for a personal webpage (So far, we've used up about 2). We bought the name "butt2face.com" and use it to redirect to the Ball State web server. In elementary school teacher's terms, when you type in www.butt2face.com, what you see is being shown from http://jjmurdock.iweb.bsu.edu.

Using an Apple computer, my browser of choice is Safari. Firefox is decent, but the Mac version has some bugs that get in my way. Microsoft discontinued its shitty Mac port of Internet Explorer, so Safari really is the best choice.

I used GoDaddy.com to register Butt2Face.com, and used their forwarding service. A couple of weeks ago, Safari stopped loading Butt2Face.com correctly. Instead, I got this:

Ray Charles' home page

"Did Butt2Face crash? That's gay," I thought to myself, but then wondered why none of my PC friends were complaining. I tried Firefox instead, and I got this:

What you're supposed to see

Now I'm thinking "What the fuck?" After some research, I found out that GoDaddy doesn't support Safari. In the words of one disgruntled customer:

[GoDaddy customer service's] blunt solution was use another browser and then the guy on the phone at Godaddy said "personally we don't care about Safari"

One in 20 people use Apple computers for Internet browsing. If you are that one, take note that GoDaddy doesn't care about you anymore.

Did I mention that their website design is fucking ugly? Just look at this:

Let's squeeze as many promotions as possible onto a single page. Trust me, they'll love it.

Even Persian bazaars are less chaotic than this ballyhoo. I especially like the shameless advertisement right in the center--the only part of this site that stands out. Even if you're already a paying customer, GoDaddy relentlessly bombards you with "opportunities" to upgrade [pay more for] your account.

If I had designed GoDaddy's site, I would have had to kill myself. Simply realizing that I gave them ten dollars makes me want to stay in bed all day.

Make a note: if you use Safari, like me, you can only view this site by going to http://jjmurdock.iweb.bsu.edu. I know it's kind of tough to remember, but you're just going to have to try. Maybe someday I'll invest in some kind of domain name forwarding service like GoDaddy so that you can type in a simple site name like "www.butt2face.com" and view this site.

5/19/06 Update

We've disassociated the site from Ball State, and GoDaddy is now our provider. We love GoDaddy!
